Lake George…the Adirondacks

The drive from Buffalo to Lake George in the Adirondacks was the beginning of several fall days of glorious leaf peeping. The rolling hills of New York were covered in reds, yellows, oranges and made the trek simply beautiful. We landed in Lake George to see the Adirondacks, but also to check out the hometown of one of our dear friends, Bryant Scrafford. We drove by his childhood home and visited some of his haunts from teen years in a small lake town! It was also Octoberfest, so the Main Street was packed with brats and beer and lederhosen and polka tunes! We sat next to three locals who were thrilled to tell us more about the area, and loved hearing our travel tales! It was a blast of a day….FInished it off at the Garrison, a tavern Bry remembers which was at some point a speakeasy and KOOM was the password. The campsite was Ledgeview and was in the woods with great wide sites and beautiful trees. It was a fabulous stop.

The next day we took another fall blazing daytrip toward Bethel, Maine enjoying Vermont and New Hampshire along the way. Stumbled upon Whitehall NY, Killington and Woodstock, Vermont and Bethlehem, New Hampshire and swear to God it was like driving through a movie set! Stone churches, stark white houses, blazing trees, hills covered in patches of color and little tiny towns dripping with charm. I LOVE AUTUMN……
